Doreen Kerr opened 'The Cupboard' in August 2008 in Edinburgh's West End because she wanted to create the type of boutique in which she always wanted to shop. When she moved back to her home country of Scotland, after 5 years in New Zealand, she identified a gap in Edinburgh's retail market for women's fashion.

She wanted to shop in a relaxed atmosphere and find well-made clothing that was suitable for a mature woman but that was stylish, edgy and simple. When she could not find such a shop, she decided to open her own boutique where she could offer this fashion and service to other women - and 'The Cupboard' was born.

Doreen has given her special touch to 'The Cupboard', which is evident from the moment you enter the boutique. She has created a relaxed and informal atmosphere where customers are encouraged to browse at leisure or receive personal attention to unravel their own unique style. A private, after-hours shopping service is also available for customers who desire a greater level of personal attention.

Most of our pieces are desiged and made in Europe using the finest qualiy materials. Doreen travels extensively throughout the United Kingdom and Europe; and with her understanding of style and an eye for fashion, she is able to skilfully select new designers and unique pieces that are not available anywhere else in Edinburgh.

The Cupboard gives all mature women, mothers and daughters alike, the chance to enjoy a whole shopping experiance. Sizes range from 8 to 18. We stock clothes for all occasions, from luxurious designer fashion, mother of the bride outfits, evening wear, cruise wear, casual knitwear to jeans.

We also offer range of accessories including bags, semi-precious and costume jewellery, scarves, belts, hats and shawls.
